  • What is your academic background/qualifications?

    I obtained a Master of Social Work degree from North Carolina Central University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of North Carolina.

  • What is culturally responsive care and how will this show up in session?

    Culturally responsive care emphasizes understanding, respecting, and integrating clients’ cultural values, beliefs, and practices into their care. It aims to provide equitable and effective treatment by acknowledging the diverse cultural backgrounds of individuals and addressing barriers to care that may arise from cultural differences. In practice, this may look like: Acknowledging the impact of discrimination, and historical trauma on the mental health of Black women and girls; recognizing the intersectionality of race, gender, socioeconomic status, and other identities that shape BW&G experiences, and engaging in ongoing education about Black culture, history, and contemporary issues affecting Black women and girls.

  • Where is your practice location?

    My practice location is 1973 J N Pease Place Charlotte, NC 28262 (MBS Therapeutics, PLLC).

  • Do you only provide services for Black women and girls?

    My practice is open to everyone and I have experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds. However, I specialize in working with Black women and girls.

  • What types of therapy do you offer?

    I offer a wide range of therapeutic approaches. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, and trauma-focused therapy. However, I may draw upon various other treatment modalities in order to address your needs.

  • Are sessions in-person or virtual?

    Sessions are currently offered in person and virtually.

  • Do you offer evening and weekend appointments?

    I have evening and very limited weekend availability. Sessions held on weekends are a case-by-case basis.

  • How do I schedule an appointment?

  • Do you accept insurance?

    I accept Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United HealthCare, and Medicaid (Healthy Blue, Alliance, Carolina Complete, Wellcare).

  • Do you prescribe medication?

    No, I do not prescribe medication. I can refer you to a psychiatrist or collaborate with your healthcare provider.

  • How long are therapy sessions?

    Session typically last 50-60 minutes. Initial consultations may last longer.
